This is an area I got involved in about Xmas 2016 when Santa brought me a Raise 3D N2 3D printer. This has been brilliant and almost 100% reliable in its printed results. This is when I also settled on Fusion 360 as my design package of choice. Not perfect but pretty good none the less.
31/5/2019: This printer has proven reliable and easy to use and I continue to produce various projects using it. I have upgraded the feeder mechanism to the class leading Bondtech and this has removed the occasional issue I had with the drive slipping on the filament.
Brilliant, recommended but not cheap
30/10/2019: The printer continues to perform without issues. I use original filament in it as I like the results. I also don’t print enough volume for it to be a cost consideration. Often one reel will last months.
Projects continue to be things that help with other stuff I am doing rather than 3d printing for its own sake. A recent one was some spacers to mount something in the car and another was a gadget to find the centre of a circular lump of metal that I wanted to drill. The next one is a spacer with an 8 degree angle on it to machine some brass in a vice.
A very useful tool in the arsenal.
Thanks
