Lindi Citi pallet truck

Having got these two half ton machines home back in late 2017 and rearranged my garage I realised I would need to keep the machines against the wall and move them when needed. I already had a pallet truck but it was too big to move in the confines of my garage plus there was not enough room to put my back into pulling and pushing anything around. Some more research later and a Lindi electric pallet truck seems to fit the bill. It is electric drive and lift, the latter using a ball screw type thread rather than hydraulics. The maximum load is almost exactly the weight of the machines but because I have the dollys under them I don’t need to lift them completely.

After a while looking I found one but it didn’t have a battery. I saw it working before buying it but the seller was planning to use the battery on his kids go-cart. Getting it home was no problem and I then set about designing a lead acid battery solution that would hit the 36v requirements of the truck. My current battery design has three fire alarm batteries in parallel giving 12v 6.3 Ah and I will then connect three of these in series to get the requisite voltage. The reason for this complicated arrangement is so that it will fit into the original battery space meaning it will be very well protected. The charging is the next hurdle to overcome. This could be the most complicated battery charger seen as I want to charge them individually but not disconnect them to do so.

5/5/2019: This was a good idea that simply didn’t work as I hoped. The battery pack worked as planned however the machines proved just too heavy for it. For now then it is in storage and may not see the light of day again.
